I was looking around the other night for a WordPress plugin to display the status of a World of Warcraft realm, but came up empty.  This left me very sad, but also gave me a reason to work on a new little project!  I decided to create my own WordPress plugin that would provide me with a widget to put in a sidebar, allowing me to display realm status for any US realm.

The plugin is aptly named WoW Realm Status and can be found on the wordpress.org plugin directory, or directly here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wow-realm-status/

It is very simple to use, also.  Once you install and activate the plugin, navigate to your widget configuration page and drag + drop the WoW Realm Status #1 widget into one of your sidebars.  Then you simply give it a title and fill in which realm you’d like to display the status for.  It is as simple as that.

I plan on adding support in the future for displaying the status of multiple realms, I just don’t have the time to finish that at the moment.  I’ve also been asked about support for WoW-Europe realms and have decided to shy away from that altogether.  WoW-Europe doesn’t use the same kind of mechanism for reporting status as the US realms do, making it a pain to retreive info for them.  Maybe sometime in the future when I’m really bored I’ll attempt it, but until then, I’m sorry but you’re out of luck if you want WoW-Europe support.

I’ve been having a lot of fun so far playing the new Death Knight class. They really are one of the most efficient solo classes in-game now. I can go from mob to mob nonstop without ever having to eat since I’m spec’d Blood and basically regen any health lost in battle.

In addition to my new DK, I’ve been playing Slippir quite a bit and toying with all the new Moonkin goodies. In WotLK Moonkins will certainly be a force to be reckoned with, especially when it comes to AoE damage. We’ll be right up there with you ‘locks and mages.

Aside from the WotLK beta I hadn’t been doing much… until I checked my Gmail inbox a few hours ago to find two Warhammer Online beta keys waiting for me! I signed up my own account with one and gave the other to my brother David. We’re downloading the client now, but with 9.33GB and not very many seeders, the torrent is taking quite a while (and the anticipation is killing me!).

Patch 2.4 has been keeping me busy with all the daily quests and reputation grinding. Magister’s Terrace is fun but it gets old like any dungeon. WTB Badge Vendor already!

Argent Dawn is actually doing very good on the Sunwell event progression. I believe we’re hovering around 6th or 7th place. Hit up us.gorgonnash.info to check. Anyhow, just wanted to update to show I’m still alive. See you later!
